A Senior Year to Remember
In addition to 3 years as starting QB at Heritage Hills High School, Lincoln City, Indiana, Jay also played basketball and baseball. After going 11-1 as a junior, Jay and his football teammates put up some eye-popping stats in his senior year:
- W-L record: 15-0
- Total scoring vs opponents: 746-85
- Biggest win: 90-0 (Pike Central)

- Named first-team All-State
- Completions/Attempts: 122 of 202 (60.4%)
- Passing Yards: 2,252
- Passing TDs: 31
- Rushes/Yards: 65/493
- Rushing TDs: 11
That’s not all. Jay was also starting safety for 3 years, and picked off 9 passes senior year!
The Patroits’ dream season culminated in beating Zionsville 27-24 in OT – Jay caught the game-winning touchdown pass – for the 3A Indiana State Championship.
