QUESTION ::
When faced with adversity and the pressure from the media, what is the driving force that keeps you going? -Allison from Denver

JC ANSWER ::
My driving force is myself. I know what I am capable of on the football field. No one is a bigger critic of me than myself. There is always going to be some sort adversity, but you can't get distracted by it.
QUESTION ::
What do you guys talk about in the huddle? Are you distracted by the screaming fans during a game? -Sandy from Indianapolis

JC ANSWER ::
In the NFL there are a lot of timeouts for TV, so sometimes we are just joking around. When we are driving, it can get very serious though. I don't hear the fans at all when I'm on the field.

QUESTION ::
What other college teams were recruiting you out of high school and why did you end up picking Vandy? -Joe from Chicago

JC ANSWER ::
Vandy was one of the few schools that was giving me the opportunity to play quarterback. Playing in the SEC and getting the education that Vandy offers was something that was hard to pass up.
QUESTION ::
I'm a freshman quarterback and I almost made varsity last year. I want to train in the off-season so I can get better. I need to strengthen my arm and enhance my accuracy. I also want to get better at breaking down coverages and reading defense, such as in pre-snap reads. Any advice?- Matt from Orland Park

JC ANSWER ::
As far as arm strength goes, you throw with your legs and core. So I would strengthen those as much as you can. Accuracy comes from having a good base and your feet in the proper position to throw the ball. Pre-snap reads has to do a lot with the safeties. If you can identify where they are at the snap then you will have a good indication on what coverage they will be in.
QUESTION ::
I'm a 14 year old soccer and baseball player with Type 1 diabetes (have had it for 2 years). What do you do on the field to keep your sugar from dropping? I'm having trouble keeping mine up!- Ava from Grayslake

JC ANSWER ::
We keep Gatorade nearby and I check my levels a lot throughout the game.

I'm not sure what I would do! I have been lucky enough to stay healthy and I am able to have a career playing football. If it hadn't worked out, I would still like to be in the sports field in some aspect.
QUESTION ::
Hey Jay, I coach at a 3A high school in northern Indiana. Two years ago we were ranked 2nd in the state behind Heritage Hills for a couple of weeks. The last two years we have had a couple of disappointing seasons. We ended 5-5 this year and got beat in the first round of Sectionals. We have trouble getting kids to understand the importance of lifting and working out in the off season. I was wondering if you had any words of encouragement I could pass along to the players? -Eric from Northern Indiana

JC ANSWER ::
All teams are different, as are all players. Lifting and working in the off-season is very important. I didn't realize that until I got to college. I played three sports in high school so I was never really in an 'off-season.' Mixing things up and keeping it fresh and different in the off-season is key.
QUESTION ::
Rather it be about game time or something personal, what usually helps you relax when you're stressed? -Michelle from Green Castle

JC ANSWER ::
Just relaxing at home is something that helps during the season. In the off-season I try to leave town and get away for awhile. Right after the season and right before the start, I usually go to a beach to relax.
